1. The Cover Contest Begins

It's official! The Cover Contest is now open! The rules, specs, and templates are now available on the site. If the Cover Contest information isn't showing up, perform a cache refresh of the page (pc chrome: ctrl + shift + r // mac chrome: cmd + shift + r). Be sure to read through all the info and let me know if you have any quesitons or concerns. Some of the rules I wrote just to cover my rear in case of any issues, which I don't forsee happening (I hope). ^^;

If I do need to contact you about your contest entry, please be sure that I have the best method of communication to reach you before the submission deadline. Any opportunity to revise an entry will be very time sensitive, so let me know if the best way to communicate has changed at all either via the Google Forms communication survey or any other communication method that's already been established. I'm very happy to leverage almost any other contact method as needed.

Side note, if Facebook happens to be the best method, please make sure to identify yourself so I can find and friend you. ^_~

2. The Cover Templates

Just a few tips about the cover templates: they are meant for reference; any artwork or files do not need to be drawn ontop of or in the template file itself. There are 8 different versions that have the title and cover text located in different positions, so give each one a try when sketching to find the right one for your design(s).

When creating the cover, fill in the whole 11"x14" canvas, edge to edge. Keep important parts, like faces, inside the safezones and away from text overlap areas. And try not to leave the background blank unless it really works for the design.

I'm happy to help brainstorm or critique any entries before the deadline. And as always, feel free to ask any questions.

3. A Fellow Fan's Amazing Tribute to YST/RW

On a lighter note, there's an amazing tribute to the Yoroiden Samurai Troopers' Anniversary on YouTube by a super talented fan! Check it out, give it a thumbs up, and leave a comment! Animatics are a lot of work, and it just makes me so happy to know our fandom is comprised of so many dedicated and hard-working fans!

In summary:

  • The Cover Contest is now open; check the site for the info.
  • Templates are meant as guides, don't use the templates themselves for your entry creation.
  • Watch this fan-made animatic! Watch it now!

As always, feel free to reply to this email if you have any questions, and take really great care of yourselves. Countdown 7 weeks!
